vimvimvimeeeeooo

Ah it's so early, (haha ok it's not that early I guess) but I can't fall back to sleep so I've been getting lost in Vimeo land for like an hour! It's seriously the best place to pass the time. This video is amazing, and I'm sure it took hours of work to construct all the stop-motion figures, but I'm pretty sure the best part are the sound effects. They're perfect!

Skateboardanimation from Tilles Singer on Vimeo.

Also check out this website, it's a crew of taggers from Israel. There is a really sweet video towards the bottom of the page that you should check out.

Ok back to bed for a little while hopefully, then lunch with my grandma and aunt. Woo gonna be a blast!

simple little beauty

This is my absolute most favorite song to listen to when I've been trapped in the library all day.

hold your horses!

I am so restless right now! I was semi-unproductive today: I didn't have work and I only had a couple hours of classes and I skipped the gym. I also don't have any new books at home (not that I should be starting a book right before finals week) which means there has been a lot of exploring the web today. I feel like I'm about a page away from coming to "the end" of the Internet. I've looked at international job listings, opportunities to teach English in foreign countries, watched a thousand viral videos, and clicked through about 300 pictures from the Selby (which makes me romanticize my life in awful ways).

Anyways the best thing I found was this music video by the Franco-American band Hold Your Horses! The band members re-create famous/historical paintings in a rather creative and silly way in the video. I tried to research them more but they're pretty of the wall so I didn't find much. I bet they'll blow up in about 6 months though. Enjoy!

PS here is the myspace page for that band. (Do people still use myspace? It seems so "7th grade" to me...)

me oh my

Hey hey. Hope you like my new blog layout. Still boring but I felt like it needed a change. I feel guilty because it's a beautiful sunny (albeit not very warm) day outside and I'm curled up in bed about to take a nap. However my window is open so I can see blue skies and feel the breeze and I can hear the neighbor playing pretty songs on his acoustic guitar so that makes me feel better.

I had an awesome birthday on Monday and I got treated like a princess which is always nice. Bowling was a success even though I might be the worst bowler on the planet. I blame part of that on consuming too much alcohol though.

Anyways I mostly wanted to post a quote from this book I am reading called Age of Iron by JM Coetzee. I really like it and I feel like it explains for some reason why I keep up with this blog.

"In another world I would not need words. I would appear on your doorstep. 'I have come for a visit,' I would say, and that would be the end of words: I would embrace you and be embraced. But in this world, in this time, I must reach out to you in words."

Just think about it; it makes so much sense. I wish I was able to write that eloquently, but I guess this will have to do.

Woop de woop

Eughhh still trying to get over the flu, my fever is gone but I have a cough that could shake the acorns off an oak tree. Just ate some delicious pasta though and I'm making some tea to curl up with on the couch. Trying to pick out a movie I want to watch, which just makes me think of all the fabulous flicks that are coming out soon! (Or have already been released and I haven't had a chance to see yet.) Zombieland, Where the Wild Things Are, Boondock Saints II, Sherlock Holmes, The Messenger, AHH and the list goes on. AND somehow I never saw Inglorious Basterds? How did that happen?!

OOoh also I'm super excited for fall, it's gonna be super busy but wooo I like cold weather and wearing scarves and drinking tea and all that fun cold weather stuffffff. Okie dokie more to come sorry I suck at keeping up with this.

philanges

Just a few things I'm temporarily obsessed with! (Sorry I'm not writing anything amazing/dramatic/noteworthy, but this is some fab baggage that have been on my mind, so enjoy! PS, I have awesome plans for my 21st in France, I'll fill you in soon. Can't wait!)

The movie The Virgin Suicides, directed by Sofia Coppola, with Kirsten Dunst and Josh Hartnett. Can I just say, chilling? Oh and also, "You're a stone fox."

http://www.urbandictionary.com/ It's so clever. If I need a little pick-me-up, I just rely on this!

Lucid dreaming, aka a conscious dream, aka a dream that a person is capable of controlling/participating in. Been trying to learn how to accomplish this...here are some steps and hints!

Múm=awesome mostly instrumental Icelandic group that puts me in the best mood ever. I zone out to it on the tram tous les jours.

La Plana, un café dans la place de la Victoire, which is a huge square (octagon?) in the middle of Bordeaux. Delicious house wine and the cutest waiters, plus warm bread all the time!

My walk to school (I'll attach a picture.) Takes about 14 minutes, it's always cold, but rarely foggy (it was a freak day when I took this picture). The funniest part of the walk is me sliding around trying not to fall down because the leaves covering the ground are all so icy and treacherous.

Oh one more, I think everyone knows about this, but http://www.stumbleupon.com/
is an awesome connection to so many websites. The internet is insane, it's crazy to think all this stuff exists. I guess you never really know what's out there!

PS-Scott Schuman, where have you been? I've been looking quite chic lately if I dare say so myself. Got a new plaid shirt at H&M. SO cute. Can't wait to show it off. I'll have a photo of it up soon.

PSS-This is a picture from my walk to school! No altercations to this photo. Where do I get the amazing blur effect you ask? I call it the "freak fog+trying to take a picture while walking+attempting to not slip and fall down+not exposing philanges to the outside air all at the same time" effect.

Loooove.

Go see the movie Australia. It is fantastic. Although my heart will always belong to Wolverine, Hugh Jackman does play a pretty hot "Drover." And the kid in the movie is the cutest thing I've ever seen. And his grandpa is a badass. Here is a picture to explain my love.

Short Films

I stumbled upon this website via YouTube...I found a video called "Simon's Cat-TV Dinner" and it was so funny so I pursued it and it led me to this site. Watch some of the short films...they're ridiculous! I suggest "Flatworld". So creative.
